Remember when Napster was all the rage and people were enjoying music for free from all their favorite artists? Remember when everything was shut down, and they were telling people that the cops were going to come to their house and arrest them for stealing the music? Yeah, I was about 14 when all that happened, and with a computer full of maybe 20 CDs that I had taken from Napster, I was shivering at night under my covers just waiting for the cops to break down the door. And now, more than 10 years later, I've discovered isohunt dot com and am having the same feelings, because of my need for french music that I can get nowhere else. Try going to Borders and looking through their french music section... there is NOTHING, nothing that I haven't heard over and over and over. Believe me I own all of Edith Piaf's and Jacques Brel's music, I don't need more... what I would love is contemporary music, but nooooo. So anyways, in my desperate search for some french music I've logged on to this website and have been downloading like crazy since last night. And it's beautiful... and it's marvelous... and at night I'm shivering, waiting for the cops to break down my door. Talk about Pavlov's dog. My last final of the semester is today. In History, I'm not looking forward to it, luckily there are no dates really, just approximations, and it's more of a monologue about Asian women that I need to write which should not be too bad. And before hand, I get to go sell my books, which, with the way my job has been going, will be more than necessary for me to survive through the week. This afternoon I'm going to Psycho Baby, a store in the middle of Chicago that has a lot of "weird and extreme" stuff for children. Lots of skull shirts, band shirts and things like that for the extremely hip parent. Going to bring my plushies and see if they might be interested in having them in the store. They are selling Ugly Dolls there, so as long as I can figure out a way to make the eyes safe on my plushies I think they would be interested. Hmmmm Safety eyes, I really don't want to use them as I love the look of buttons on my plushies, but I think I'm going to have to as I'm trying to cater to a younger crowd now. I've already stopped hand sewing all of my plushies so they can be hardier. I just have to find cool safety eyes now. And Nigel is going with me and he will be bringing the skull baby onesies that we make (his design, I just help print)... we blood splatter them, we figure they should enjoy that at least... Nothing says I love you like a blood splattered, skull printed baby onesie. We've started homeschooling Nigel's kids lately and I really want to relate the experience, it can be both frustrating and amazing, often all in the same day. Not sure if I want to open up a new diary for it and make it separate from this one, as I think it would start to take over all accounts that I made. At the same time this is very much a part of my life now, so it does fit this diary. Not sure what I'll do yet, any input is welcome Previous | Next
