Rules: Once you've been tagged, you are supposed to write a note with 25 random things, facts, habits, or goals about you. At the end, choose 25 people to be tagged. You have to tag the person who tagged you. If I tagged you, it's because I want to know more about you.
1. I'm a gypsy, my mom had me moving from place to place from the age of 4. We never had roots, and I've never truly built roots to anywhere. California is as close to "home" as anywhere is at this time in my life. Otherwise, I'm always missing one place or another, when in France I miss the US, when in the US I miss France and Canada, ect... When I think of home though it is not California as I stayed there for about 7 years before moving to Chicago... but it's nowhere specific in California...
2. I enjoy being a gypsy, even though at times it can be hard. I have a hard time staying in one place for more than a couple of years, and if I stay in the same place for more than 3 years I become very agitated and unhappy. For example: I'm done with Chicago.
3. I have huge goals for my life, things that I'm not sure I will ever be able to accomplish, but that drive me forward all the same.
4. I will be getting my PhD in Psychology and my MA in Sociology, in approximately 4 more years... when I'm almost, if not 30........... Yet, I graduated High School when I was 14. The lack of guidance from my family after my HS years sometimes makes me very upset.
5. I've been working full time and paying for everything since the age of 15. At that time I was cleaning houses with my mom, I never learned to forgive or like rich people as a population since. If you are rich and can prove yourself to me it is one thing, otherwise I will probably discount you as a spoiled brat. While this line of thought isn't right on my part, I've seen and gone through enough to justify it.
6. At the age of 19 I deliberately left my house to go live on the streets of San Francisco for a year. My ultimate goal in life is to open up my own homeless shelter, but I did not feel that I understood the street kids that I wanted to help. So I lived with them for a year. It was the hardest and most wonderful year of my life all at the same time.
7. Although it's pretty faint now, I've had PTSD since I left the streets.
8. I've had Lucy, my dog, since she was 4 months old. I got her while I was in the streets. She is now 6 years old and I love her more with each year that goes by. I could have never asked for a better dog and a more loving companion. She has managed to keep me sane through a lot of things.
9. I got admitted to Loyola University through I don't know what fluke of the system. I have not had good grades for the past 4 years, because I always work full time on top of going to school full time. Sometimes I even work 2 or 3 jobs while going to school.
10. I already know how to speak fluent French and English... my next goal is to learn Spanish and Italian. I want to go to Costa Rica for 2 months for Spanish, then will come Italy... After that I would like to learn Arabic and Japanese, I might also learn Russian. This will all come in time as I need to live in each of the places for at least 2 months in order to become fluent.
11. I'm highly spiritual, yet not religious at all. Hate religions. I've been telling myself that I need to work on my spirituality for the past few years, and never seem to really get anything going. I'm afraid to start. Afraid of what I can get done once I open myself back up to my spiritual side.
12. I've been feeling ghosts ever since I was a kid, which means that I believe in them... I also believe in a lot of very esoteric stuff, and am quite superstitious when you get down to it, although I try my best not to pay attention to it. I have some pretty funny ghosts stories though, if you ever want to hear them.
13. When I was about 9 years old, me and my grand mother drove through a city that suddenly disappeared to leave a 18th century vineyard around us. We were stuck there for a good 20 minutes before we drove a bit further and the village simply reappeared. Yeah, try to explain that one! (No we weren't sleeping).
14. I'm an avid book reader, come book collector as well. I love buying books whether they are new or old. I have such a collection now that thinking about moving makes me cringe... the Gypsy in me hates the book collector in me.
15. I've just recently discovered the beauty of torrents and of being able to burn DVDs, in just a couple of months I've managed to acquire a DVD collection that probably is already above the hundreds. It makes me happy. I still have not watched all of the movies that I've downloaded though and it makes me feel a bit guilty.
16. I love art, always loved art, never thought I could be an artist myself though. Lately, it seems more and more possible and it makes me extremely happy.
17. I've just started getting into taxidermy. I haven't done any "real" taxidermy so far, but I've retrieved bones from animals, and I am now trying to preserve my first pair of bird wings. We'll see how that goes.
18. I am now, with Nigel, learning more about love in the past year that we've been together, than I had learned in all my life so far. He is absolutely amazing and makes me the happiest woman on earth.
19. As I get older it is more and more ok for me to be a little girly from time to time. I like clothes and shoes, something that I would have never thought possible just a few years back. Sometimes I even like putting stuff in my hair. This is ok, and I'm slowly learning to deal with it.
20. I just discovered a passion for cooking. I've been baking, and learning how to make stuff more and more lately. Granted is can be a very fleeting passion, as it only comes from time to time, but I thoroughly enjoy the moments when I do decide to cook something.
21. I'm the worst at keeping in touch with people. I feel absolutely horrible about it, but have discovered that most people are the same, so I use that to make me feel a bit better.
22. I NEVER watch the news, or read the papers. The only information I get about what is going on in the world is through school or people telling me about what they've read or heard. I don't trust the news, and don't want to live my life crying all the time. As a kid my grandmother made me watch the news, and I would be crying my eyes out every evening as I saw the horrors of the world. I like my own little world that makes sense to me, without the news.
23. I like ALL music. Literally ALL, it can be absolutely horrible, I will still like it because I might be able to dance to it.
24. I love dancing, I own all the most horrendous dancing movies you can think of because I can imagine myself in them. I love swing especially and salsa. Nigel and I are going to start to go out dancing more often, I miss it, but work and school have been taking over.
25. I love Nigel, more than anything and anyone in my life. He is absolutely everything to me and I would do anything for him. I can only hope that I will be able to show him this everyday for the rest of our lives.
